Naturist camping with all the family
Have you already practised naturism and would now like to introduce your children to it? A beginner, do you wish to discover family naturism but are still reluctant to take it up? Here are some answers to the questions you’re undoubtedly asking.
What is family naturism?
First and foremost, we should explain what naturism with all the family involves. This entails living naked within a social and natural setting, including all family members. This means parents and children choose to spend time together in their birthday suit, whether at home, within naturist resorts, on the beach or in other appropriate surroundings, where practising naturism is permitted.
Naturism, whether practised as a couple, with friends or all the family, is based on principles such as self-respect and respect for others, accepting your body for what it is and a deep connection with nature. When naturism is practised with members of the same family, it also aims to strengthen family relationships, create stronger ties and promote honest communication.
It is important to mention that family naturism is a practice which requires the consent of all family members and respect for individual boundaries. It is equally vital to establish specific rules of behaviour, aiming to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all involved.
When should you start family naturism?
As early as possible! Young children are very often quite happy to spend their holiday completely naked: they have no sense of modesty and enjoy being free from the restrictive nature of clothing. Naturism becomes almost second nature to them. That said, starting naturism with a teenager may not prove impossible, but perhaps a more delicate issue (see below).
What benefits does naturism bring for children?
Running naked under the sun, swimming without a swimsuit, what a joy for your children! They are finally free in their movements, free to feel the elements of nature on their skin: the sand, the wind, the water, etc. Moreover, constantly having to dress and undress during trips to the beach or the pool is often a burden they are happy to be rid of!
Your child can understand that all bodies are both similar and unique, and that every body – including theirs – deserves respect. They learn to judge people based on who they are, not on their appearance or the clothes they wear.
By learning to respect and love their body, and overcoming their insecurities by practicing communal nudity, your child can gain more self-confidence.
By getting your child used to nudity, both their own and that of others, from a young age, you demystify the naked body.
Living in harmony with the body and respecting it are fundamental values of naturism.
For your holiday, ideally you should go to a naturist holiday resort! Everything has been designed on-site for your peace of mind and your children’s safety. More and more families go every year to recharge their batteries. At France 4 Naturisme, numerous activities are moreover on offer for your children; sports, cultural, craft, nature activities etc., and clubs suitable for each age range await them.

Other questions about naturism…
My teenager is hesitant about undressing, what should I do?
Don’t worry, this is very common. Even if your son or daughter was introduced to naturism from childhood. Adolescence is a time of major physical and emotional upheaval. Some youngsters are upset, indeed bothered, by their body’s changes and do not or no longer wish to have it on show during this period of change.
At France 4 Naturisme, we quite understand this sense of modesty. On our campsites teens can, outside of the swimming areas, cover up with a pareo. Our teams are on hand for them, and you of course, to answer questions and discuss this important topic.
The practical advantages of naturism
Naturism provides numerous advantages for youngsters! Thus, with fewer clothes to carry, your bags are lighter and can be packed more quickly! Arguments over choosing what clothes to wear in the morning are no more! This saves time, so you can plan the day’s activities!
On a more serious note, naturism strengthens family ties, favouring open and honest communication between parents, children and teens. Moreover, naturism with all the family contributes to promoting a positive body image, and healthy self-esteem amongst children and teens. By exposing youngsters to a variety of body shapes and sizes in a non-sexual context, naturism will help them to develop a realistic and positive perception of their own body, which may reduce the risk of eating disorders and dissatisfaction with their body.
Will my children continue with naturism later on?
All scenarios are possible.
Some children will pursue naturism in adulthood, and in turn practise it with their family. Others will move away from it, either completely or only temporarily. In any case, you’ll have had the chance to experience naturism with your children and the opportunity to pass on values which you cherish.
